HP Veer and Dell Streak offer great choices
Many believe that the HP Veer is nothing but a smaller Palm Pre 2, but that is not the case. This mobile has a glass-front and full multitouch display having a decent 400 x 320 pixel resolution. There is also a QWERTY keyboard facilitating quick typing and performing a slide out function.
Measuring 54.5 x 15.1 x 84mm, the mobile is incredibly light too. The keyboard on this mobile is fantastic, despite the keys being flattened out compared to previous models. Performance-wise, the Qualcomm 800MHz 7230 processor is also promising. It takes not more than 2 seconds to open. This mobile comes with numerous connectivity radios like WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and HSDPA. It looks very small but its capabilities are superior with the HP webOS operating system, providing for 24×7 entertainment.
It also has a unique 5 mega pixel camera that is suitable for taking pictures under most light conditions though it does not have a flash facility. It is also having other notable features such as GPRS and EDGE access as well as hosting Bluetooth and WLAN. It however does not have an infra red port though it has USB facility. There is a primary camera that has geo-tagging facility but no secondary camera. There is also scope for video playing on this mobile.
The
Dell Streak
is operating on the Android operating system and uses a HTML browser. It is however using no radio while at the same time having no downloadable games. However it has GPS support and also hosts Java software along with a digital compass and social networking integration. There is also scope for various other software such as Google Search, Maps and Gmail apart from You Tube and Google Talk together with a photo viewer and Organizer as well as a voice memo and dial. There is also a standard battery of 1530mAh together with standby of 400 hours and talk time of 9 hours 48 minutes.
There is little doubt that the
HP Veer
and Dell Streak are offering superior alternatives to mobile users in terms of superior technology available at an affordable price. These mobiles are having numerous interesting features that make them highly appealing cutting across age groups.
